Silent Sitting Schedule

SILENT SITTING
A gathering for those drawn to silence and stillness.

Founded on April 1, 2023 and held every Tuesday & Thursday since.

ABOUT SILENT SITTING
Arising from the simple intention to offer a hosted silent space online for our community, Silent Sitting is a space for shared silence & stillness, whether you are practicing Anapanasati (mindfulness of breathing), Silent Illumination (open awareness meditation) or any other method. We gather in the field of silence together to allow for a shared deeper unfoldment of our practice.

There is no fee for joining our Silent Sittings, however if you’ve been inspired or felt spiritually nourished by the offerings of BMDC and feel moved to donate, we appreciate your financial support in any amount.

While some people have suggested that we should charge a monthly fee for our offerings and events as some groups do, we don’t want to see anyone excluded. We would rather receive support from those with the means and motivation to offer it freely, while allowing those without the means, to enjoy and benefit from our offerings as well. If you’ve been inspired or felt spiritually nourished by our offerings and feel moved to donate, we appreciate your financial support in any amount.

You can donate here now.

SCHEDULE
Hosted in Western Canada, sessions are currently held each Tuesday & Thursday evening. Session times are scheduled for 9:00PM ~PST or Pacific Standard Time.

The door to the gathering will be open 5 minutes before our sitting and will close at the start of the silent sitting. You will hear a meditation bell sound once to begin our session, and once again to end it. Participants will be muted on entry, and during the gathering. Each sitting lasts for 25 minutes, not including arrival time.

Scroll down for Zoom link and passcode.

HOW TO JOIN
The space is hosted by T.C on Zoom. The silent space will open 5 minutes prior to the start time, to allow you time to enter the space, and settle. Please enter muted, remain muted throughout, and keep your video on, to support the community of shared silence that this is. Please note that there will be no entry after the start time. If you become restless, or need to move about, please switch off your video, and if necessary, feel free to leave the gathering. See below for the Zoom link and passcode. This will remain the same for each gathering.

Integrating Zen & the Theravada forest tradition

Blue Mountain Dharma Community offers traditional Buddhist meditation methods in both the Thai Forest Tradition and Chinese Ch'an ( Zen ) tradition, taught in a sequential manner. We offer the “gradual” ( Pali: samatha/vipassana ) methods of the Theravada Forest Tradition and apply them in the Ch'an/Zen context, this systematized development presents a “gradual” approach within the “sudden” path of Ch'an/Zen practice, creating effective and practical methods for practitioners of different spiritual capacities. Our Spiritual Friend & Facilitator T.C Donalds (ICBI) is a professional herbalist and clinical meditation teacher in Vancouver, British Columbia. A poet, Ch’an/Zen practitioner, and former monk in the Thai Forest Tradition, he is the author of four Buddhist inspired poetry collections. T.C views poetry as an extension of his Ch'an/Zen practice. A way of investigating the Self. For as Dogen Zenji, a 13th century Zen master said: “To study the way is to study th...

About Us

Blue Mountain Dharma Community offers a welcoming and inclusive space for meditation, community, and integrative awakening through a contemporary approach to traditional Buddhist teachings and practices. BMDC holds weekly sittings and discussion groups, generously hosted by T.C ( Tyler ) Donalds , a former monk in the Thai Forest Tradition and certified member of the International Ch'an (Zen) Buddhist Institute. Our mission is to make accessible, and embody the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist teachings in a practical and experiential way that clarifies what awakening is while showing us how to transform our everyday experiences into the very path of awakening. The offerings of the Blue Mountain Dharma Community do not ask us to remove ourselves from the world or reject it as illusion, in fact we fully embrace it as it presents itself as the very means for awakening.   We are a community led Sangha and Blue Mountain Dharma Community views spiritual friendship ( kalyana...
